NAME: Daiki Aomine
CANON: Kuroko's Basketball
CANON POINT: Chapter 113
AGE: 16
BACKGROUND: Here
PERSONALITY: Aomine is one of the five members of the Generation of Miracles, a group of middle schoolers who were the best of the best when it came to basketball and an unstoppable team. The group then entered high school where they only continue to grow stronger as they grow older - as rivals instead of teammates. Among the Miracles, Aomine was considered the ace. He trained everyday to become even stronger and stronger in the sport he loved with passion.
Back then Aomine was really outgoing and happy to be doing something he was so good at. He fooled around with his teammates, walking home together with them and eating ice cream. He had a genuine aura of joy around him and it felt like he could go far - especially with Kuroko by his side as the shadow to his light. As he became stronger and stronger his joy and optimism started to get dimmer. The opponents they faced were all weak and he started to feel sad. Basketball wasn't as fun anymore when everyone was losing around him. He started skipping practice, even if he never did that before, just so he wouldn't become stronger. It was then when Kuroko advised him to keep believing that a rival would appear and make him excited again.
Aomine tried to believe, but when he noticed that his opponents started giving up when he was against them, he lost the remainders of his hope. Even the sadness he felt was replaced by anger and disappointment. He told Kuroko that what he wished would never come true: that the only one who could defeat him was he himself. It was then when he started to change and distance himself from his friends. He wasn't happy to play anymore, which made him less happy outside basketball. He started avoiding going to practice even more which worried Kuroko. When Kuroko asked him to return to practice Aomine simply said that he was winning even when he didn't want to and that a person who could do nothing in basketball on his own could never understand how he felt.
As a result of his power he started caring less about his opponents. He started crush and humiliate them during matches - and he wasn't the only one. The other Miracles started to toy with their opponents as well. Aomine treated this as a means to actually make the matches somehow worthwhile. Something to get a hollow laugh out of. It was pure entertainment, but not something he truly ever enjoyed.
This is how Daiki Aomine is now. He's arrogant and sees everyone beneath him. No one is a match for him and he doesn't believe in a worthy rival to appear. He's rude and cruel and just very antisocial overall. He has no sympathy for the weak or any kind of want to be friends with anyone who doesn't meet his level. All of his basketball personality bleeds into his off-court personality as well and he's a real lone wolf whenever he wants to be. He's also a wildcard who does everything the way he wants to a certain limit (there are those he obeys even when he doesn't always feel like it).
Aomine also has a fierce temper that he's displayed many times. Whenever someone he had even some hope for disappoints him he becomes angry and wants to crush them even worse. He's also (still) rather protective of his former teammates (especially Kuroko) so when they're being insulted he even gets violent. Sometimes his temper is more of a comedy relief (like whenever he's fooled by the promise of model magazines).
Out of the other members of the Generation of Miracles (plus Kuroko, the phantom sixth), Aomine gets the best along with Kise. They've had a long rivalry ever since Kise joined their team (Aomine was the one who got Kise into basketball). Aomine also sees him as talented enough for him to use all his powers to crush him, unlike any of his other opponents. Outside basketball he gets often very annoyed with Kise's antics and mocks him. Aomine isn't exactly on the best terms with the other three, but he does listen to Akashi whenever he calls him for a meeting and cares enough to actually call Midorima to ask if he lost or won against Kuroko. Mostly his interactions with them are brief and he doesn't even have any nostalgic tone to greet them with.
Momoi is a childhood friend of Aomine's who even to this day continues to look after him. Aomine gets annoyed at her for acting like his guardian and often makes fun of her, but he really does care about her. He's just really, really bad at showing his appreciation and opts to not do so. She's the only one who actually gets to see Aomine as something other than arrogant all of the time - even if she gets plenty of that too.
Aomine, is very interested in seeing where Kagami's development takes him and sees him as someone who could someday stand on the same level as the other miracles. However, he's even more arrogant and cruel to him because of that and often mocks him for being weak and not bringing out the best of Kuroko's abilities as his new light.
In a way, you could probably get away with calling Aomine a giant house cat. He's arrogant and very, very lazy. He tends to nap whenever and wherever he wants to. He also tends to eat other people's food (especially his current teammate Sakurai's). Yet he has his sweet side... buried very deep inside, but it's there somewhere. Given the chance and the right way forward, he can be caring in his own unique way (like saying he doesn't want to see his old teammates lose or helping his rival in a pinch) and a fun and energetic person to be around with inside and outside the court.
POWERS/ABILITIES: Nothing supernatural. He's just overall really darn good in basketball.
INVENTORY: Just his clothes and his cellphone.
MOONBLESSING: Cordis
